Mr. Dean N. Bundy, CFEI, CFII (Curriculum Vitae)
Dean is a founding member of BG&S and an internationally recognized fire expert specializing in the investigation of fires and explosions, including origin and cause determination, wildland/urban interface fires, arson investigations, commercial, industrial, and residential structure fires, as well as aircraft, maritime, heavy equipment/machinery and vehicular fires of all types. Dean was formerly a sergeant with the Oregon State Police and headed-up the arson taskforce unit for District 4. He has qualified as an expert witness in US Federal Courts and State Courts. Dean has also provided expert opinions in the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. His law enforcement background and extensive courtroom experience contribute to Dean's outstanding success as a fire investigator. His achievements are widely recognized, including having been named Oregon fire Investigator of the Year (1986) and International Investigator of the Year (1987) by the International Association of Arson Investigators. In addition, Dean brings to the firm extensive experience in small and full scale fire testing of materials and products and CFD computer modeling skills on complex cluster arrays.

Dr. Bill Gale, PhD, PE, CSP, CFEI, CFII (Curriculum Vitae)
Bill is a founding member of BG&S with more than forty years of industrial loss prevention, process safety management, and fire protection/fire safety engineering experience. He has been offering international forensic engineering and litigation support services since 1991. His areas of expertise include fires, explosions, and loss of containment (LOC) incidents involving hazardous materials of all sorts, including flammable liquids and gases. Bill received a Masters in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Fire Safety Engineering Science from the University of California, Berkeley. His undergraduate degree major was Chemical Engineering and he is a registered professional engineer in both mechanical engineering and fire protection engineering. Bill was formerly Chief Loss Prevention Engineer for Bechtel in San Francisco. As a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Professional Engineer (PE), as well as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Bill is often called upon to opine on matters related to the prevailing standard-of-care with regard to engineering negligence allegations, construction defects and code compliance issues, and product liability actions. He is also frequently consulted on incidents involving failure analysis, process safety and integrated safety management (PSM/ISM), root cause determination, and assessment of contributing factors. Bill's research work in risk assessment and risk management involving human factors, safety culture, and high reliability organizations, enhances his investigative insight in human and organizational error analysis and issues related to safe operating practices and procedures. Bill has worked on grass-roots mega-projects and major losses all over the world.

Chief Matt Shields, CFI (Retired)
Matt, who recently retired, is a founding member of BG&S and an internationally recognized fire expert specializing in origin and cause investigations of fires and explosions. Matt's 35 years of experience in all aspects of public fire service, including 26 years as a department Fire Chief, qualified him as an expert on fire department operations, administration, safety, training and fire ground tactics. He is further recognized for his expertise in origin and cause of wildland fires, industrial/commercial and residential structure fires, and all types of commercial grade transportation and equipment fires. He qualified as an expert witness in U.S. Federal and State Courts and has provided expert opinions in the province of British Columbia. In 1994 Matt was the recipient of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association’s highest achievement award - one of only six individuals at the time to have been honored with this award since the Association was formed in 1920.

Paul Tekorius, CFEI (Curriculum Vitae)
Paul Tekorius is a certified fire and explosion investigator with Bundy, Gale & Shields. He has investigated fires and explosions throughout the United States and Canada for the last ten years. Prior to joining our team, he was a Deputy Sheriff serving on the bomb squad and is a retired Sergeant.
Mr. Tekorius is one of the few certified computer fire modelers in the United States. He has been published at the Advanced Research Workshop Computer Fire Modeling University of Cantabria, Spain. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University, and is seeking a Masters from the University of Greenwich. He is a graduate of the Hazardous Devices Course in Huntsville, Alabama.
His law enforcement background makes him a skilled investigator who can properly process a scene, interview witnesses and forensically reconstruct structures in both three dimensional CAD drawings and in a computer fire model.
Mr. Tekorius is a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators, and the International Association of Arson Investigators. He is a member of the board of directors for the IAAI Oregon chapter and acts as a liaison between IAAI and IABTI.
